Contemporary Water Colour Competition 2017

We really like art at Cotswold Mounts, it makes for great pictures, and what do great pictures need – mounts!

Joking aside, we’re not really that philistine, great pictures simply makes life better – imagine a world without art galleries, artists, photographers and pictures hanging on walls.

So, to encourage artists, we were proud to be part of the Royal Water Colour Society’s  Contemporary Water Colour Competition 2017.

Among a number of art industry specialists, Cotswold Mounts offered a cash prize, the Cotswold Mounts Prize for a Contemporary Watercolour.

The prize was won by Bath based Malcolm Ashman for his piece “Fjord”, which can be seen below.

The prize was awarded on March 3rd at the Bankside Gallery, London. Unfortunately we were unable to attend but I think everyone will agree that Malcolm’s watercolour is quite stunning, and a worthy winner.
